Numeracy Service FAQ

What happens during a typical session?

During the first session, a placement assessment is completed to determine where to begin in the program. Sessions focus on building foundational number sense and mathematical concepts based on the student’s individual needs identified in the assessment.

How long is the session?

Each session runs for 45 minutes, including school holidays.

Where are the sessions?

Sessions can be held at our 2/259 Glen Osmond Road, Frewville location or Shop 8/715 South Road, Black Forest location.

When do I pay for sessions?

Payments are processed automatically after each session through our payment system.

How much does a session cost?

Each session is $110. Any required homework materials are an additional cost.

SPELD SA members receive a 5% discount per session, as well as a 5% discount on essential homework books and materials (excluding bursary families and pre-paid blocks).

What are the expectations around homework?

Homework is designed to consolidate the skills taught during sessions. This typically involves 5–10 minutes of practice, up to five times per week. Students who complete their homework regularly tend to make greater progress within the program.

You will receive a Bond Block kit in your first session, once the practitioner has identified the most appropriate resource for your child.

When will the sessions finish?

You will need to have a conversation with your practitioner to discuss your child’s current support. During this discussion, your practitioner will carefully consider the progress your child has made so far, including any improvements in their skills and areas that may still need development. They will also assess whether ongoing services are appropriate and beneficial at this stage, taking into account your child’s individual needs and goals. Based on this, they can provide guidance on the most suitable next steps, including whether to continue, adjust, or conclude services.

How do I contact the clinic to notify an absence or running late?

You can   text the clinic on 0483 931 934 if you’re unable to attend a session or if you’re running late.   Your message will go straight to your educator, so they’re directly informed. (Tip: save this number as “SPELD SA Absence Number” in your phone — this is a text-only number).

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes, if you cancel within 48 hours, the session remains billable, and the practitioner will use this time to complete planning and programming for your child.

If you cancel outside the 48 hours, the session will not be charged.

How do we check-in for sessions?

We have a simple digital check-in process when you arrive.

All you’ll need to do is enter your child's name and select who you’re visiting. This will notify your educator or practitioner, and they’ll come meet you.

Black Forest- Please enter the building and the practitioner will come to greet you when they are ready.
