SPELD SA Phonic Books Initial Code (Units 11 & Bridging) Set 1

SPELD SA Phonic Books are speech to print oriented. This means they begin with what children are already familiar with, the sounds of the English language. Sounds are then mapped to written letters. 

Each book is written to reflect the Sounds-Write scope and sequence and features multiple repetitions of target sound-spelling correspondences. This repetitive practice is crucial for students to orthographically map new words and letter-sound correspondences, gaining fluency and then automaticity.

We are dedicated to helping all children engage with phonic books. Carefully chosen characters, content and settings reflect our local South Australian Indigenous communities.

This set of engaging phonic books include 10 titles that introduce the consonant digraphs and trigraphs and alternate spellings (sh, ch, th, ck, wh, ng, qu, ck, k, c, wh, w, ch, tch) from Unit 11 and the bridging units of the Sounds-Write program, suitable for the beginning year of school and grade 1.
