Introducing the Bond Blocks Addition & Subtraction Core Kit (Level 1) -Prevention and Intervention of Difficulties
This professional learning is on prevention and intervention of maths difficulties using the Bond Blocks Addition & Subtraction Core Kit. Bond Blocks was developed by Western Australian classroom teacher Narelle Rice in partnership with Dr Paul Swan.
Uses: Whole Class Teaching (Tier 1) and Intervention (Tier 2 and 3)
PD Outline:
Building the Foundation of Addition and Subtraction using the Bond Blocks Addition & Subtraction Core Kit. The Bond Blocks Addition & Subtraction Core Kit systematically covers Year 1 to 3 addition and subtraction content, including the application of basic facts to missing number and word problems. The Addition & Subtraction Core Kit has two uses in line with a Response To Intervention approach:
- Whole Class Teaching (Tier One)
- Use in Years 1 to 3 as part of a whole school approach to Maths Lesson Warmups. Doing this will reduce the number of students requiring intervention.
- Intervention (Tier Two and Three)
- Use with small groups or individual students in Years 1-6 who count to add and subtract.
The Addition & Subtraction Core Kit includes 108 sequenced, activity boards, each modelled in video for explicit teaching. The kit is designed to support students with learning difficulties. Includes a 20 question, colour-coded Test for placement and progress, tracking & monitoring tools for whole class teaching or intervention and Curriculum-linked implementation planners for whole class teaching and intervention plus a 100-minute video PL. Purchase of Workshops and Events
6.1. Participation in all professional learning workshops requires full payment prior to the event. Purchase Orders are accepted; however, payment is required by the invoice due date. Payment terms are within 14 days.
6.2. Tickets are not refundable unless the workshop or event has been cancelled by SPELD SA. All other requests for cancellation will be offered to the payee in a credit note which can be applied to a SPELD SA product or service, including professional learning. Credit notes are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. Late cancellations of less than 48 hours for workshops or events will incur a $50 administration fee per training day plus a resource fee if applicable. The balance will be provided in a credit note to the payee.
6.3 You can request a transfer of registration to a professional learning event, and this will be assessed per application. Outcome of application will be provided within 48 business hours.
