This workshop has been specifically designed for teachers and tutors who are keen to improve their knowledge and skills in providing effective Tier 1 numeracy teaching.
This workshop will equip attendees with:
- Key components of the science of mathematics and the pillars of maths instruction,
- How to implement an optimum pedagogical approach in the classroom,
- Apply pedagogical research informed strategies to ensure maximum progress within a numeracy lesson,
- Ways to consistently integrate problem solving and reasoning into your teaching practice.
- A better understanding of the defining features of maths difficulties and dyscalculia;
- How to effectively respond to maths difficulties at a Tier 2 or Tier 3 level.
This workshop is presented by Ali Ellis, a Numeracy Consultant who has a wealth of experience in teaching mathematics. Having completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs Co-ordination, she was deeply involved in research-based practices to better understand and address the impacts of dyscalculia on student learning.
